CentacareCQ celebrates NAIDOC Week

A kaleidoscope of red, yellow, green and blue decorated the front lawn of CentacareCQ Rockhampton today in celebration of NAIDOC Week.

Staff from both CentacareCQ and the Family Relationship Centre hosted a morning tea for the community to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Family Relationship Centre Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner Letella Prior said the morning tea was a great success with members of the community, staff and elders celebrating the morning together.

“The morning was perfect. It was wonderful to see so many faces, people smiling and enjoying themselves during such a significant week,” she said.

The morning featured a delicious spread of nibbles, tea and coffee as well as information available to the public about our services including aged care, disability, counselling and family services.

Elders from the local Rockhampton region attended the morning tea and shared a yarn with one another.

The CentacareCQ and Family Relationship Centre are thankful for those who attended the event and look forward to joining the official NAIDOC March on Friday, July 9.
